Father Adam,
To follow-up my recent e-mail to you, I am writing to confirm that
the Archdiocese has approved the commencement of the St. Eugene de Mazenod
church project utilizing Jomar Development Corporation as contractor. A
letter of intent leading to a contract is now being negotiated with Jomar.
We appreciate the cooperation we have received from you and your
leadership team which has resulted in reducing the overall budget for the
project to $13.8 million. The parish has raised $7.8 million to date and
is committed to raising another $3.2 million, hopefully by the end of
construction. The Archdiocese has committed close to $6.0 million to the
project in the form of land, mortgage and rectory. This is the largest
amount the Archdiocese of Toronto has committed to any new parish.
We appreciate the patience your people have shown during the
planning phase of this project and we trust that our commitment of time
and resources is seen as a testimony of our regard for your community.
